Wedding Bells!
Our biggest and best news is that Ed's 29-year old daughter, Mary, married Scott
Gibson on May 1, 2004! They had a lovely ceremony on the banks of the Potomac River in Leesburg, Virginia, followed,
a few weeks later, by a marvelous reception at the Aldie Mill, an actual working gristmill in Aldie, Virginia. In between
the wedding and reception, the two honeymooned in Morea and Bora Bora.
From Virginia, we drove to Raleigh, NC, then flew to Wisconsin for a short and hectic visit.
A FEW HIGHLIGHTS: In June of '02 we took our
little boat, a 20' Seacraft with a cuddy cabin, down the Intracoastal Waterway all the way from Southport, NC to St.
Augustine, FL- 469 miles. We stopped at marvelous ports along the way and sampled the food and met the locals.
From Southport to Georgetown, then to Charleston, Beaufort, Hiltonhead, Savannah, then Amelia Island and Cumberland Island.
Garibaldi's in Charleston was a favorite eatery! Our stay at the Beaufort Inn - a five-star bed and breakfast was unequalled
"Har Har mateys - quail and champagne for all my men!" We luxuriated in the accommodations at the Westin in Savannaha,
compliments of Ed's brother, Patrick. A fabulous and unforgettable trip!
We spent the summer of 2002 in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, where we relaxed over the July 4th holiday, and
then replaced the roof on our house. It took most of July and August, battling fierce thunderstorms with tremendous
wind and hail. We spent more time than we care to remember putting tarps on the roof and taking them off again.
We finished just before Ed's brother Christopher arrived for Labor Day. We didn't want to put him to work on his vacation,
like we did last time. Chris especially enjoyed visiting Lake Superior and the Lake of the Clouds in Michigan.
A highlight was visiting My Aunt Irene & Uncle Gene Barradas's cabin on the shores of Lake Superior!
Ed accepted another contract in North Carolina, so we went back to Southport, a great little town. I took a part-time job at Curves for Women, and loved it! My co-workers were terrific, and
the job was fun and healthy!
Now here we are, back in St. Augustine again. If you are in the neighborhood, be sure to give us
a call!
